Day Shift Firefighter/EMT

Application & Hiring Process

  FILE APPLICATION

All applicants must be 18 years old or older, a high school graduate, a GED or equivalent.  Applications are available at Germantown Fire Department during regular business hours. To apply on-line, complete and submit the application.

WRITTEN APTITUDE TEST

Applicants will complete and pass the standard Germantown Fire Department written test.

 INTERVIEWS

Applicants will be interviewed by the Fire Chief, Deputy Chiefs and Safety Officer.

BACKGROUND INVESTIGATIONS

Complete background investigations will be conducted by the Germantown Fire Department and/or Germantown Police Department.

PHYSICAL EXAMINATION AND PRE-EMPLOYMENT DRUG SCREENING

A comprehensive physical examination by a medical doctor will be provided by the Germantown Fire Department.  This examination will include drug screening.

PHYSICAL AGILITY TEST

All physical agility testing will be conducted by the Germantown Fire Department Safety Officer, Fire Chief, Deputy Chief and/or Training Captain & EMS Captain, and a department employee.  Distinct tests are performed for Fire and EMT candidates.

ORIENTATION

All applicants who satisfactorily pass the above will attend mandatory department orientation. 

CERTIFICATION

All above procedures will be completed prior to any Germantown Fire Department activity. Successful candidates will be registered for Fire or EMS Certification.
